Looking at what communication sounded like between team players in our internal playtests, I analysed the main information that were conveyed. I then proposed a communications wheel concept to help bridge the gap between players with and without microphone. This concept started as a spatial ping (similar to Apex) and then evolved to a more classical ping wheel.
To address the spatial awareness challenge, we explored a proximity tracker that allied information on enemy proximity, as well as ally information such as the Ball Call. My research was mostly focused on visual appeal and legible signalling.
